Start the New Year out on the right foot, literally, with the 5k New Year’s Eve DASH at Eisenhower Park.

The event supports the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. The 5k will take place in Eisenhower Park, starting at the Twin Rinks Ice Center at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Race check-in begins at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.

The race kicks off at the stroke of midnight when the ball in Times Square drops – shown on large screens at the starting line. The race course extends around Eisenhower Park on a fully-lighted race course with start-to-finish sound track and then into the New Year’s Eve party at a new indoor party venue inside the Twin Rinks Ice Center.

But you don’t have to wait until midnight for the party to begin. The Twin Rinks “Skatin’ New Year‘s Eve” event starts at 9 p.m. All New Year’s Eve “DASHers” are invited to come early and take part in the fun included with registration. Children 16 and under can take part for a discounted rate exclusively for DASHer participants’ family members.

Upon crossing the finish line, participants will enter the Twin Rinks Ice Center where the party continues until 2:30 a.m. complete with a DJ, a buffet – provided by the Main Event in Plainview, beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks and sodas – provided by Snapple, and dessert provided by All Round Foods.

Fees for the 5k and party are: $65 for runners and revelers, and $45 for revelers only. There is a 16 and under reveler-only special of $18, payable upon entry. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult participating in the 5k. To register, visit the website at www.newyearsdash.com.
